Holmes advise clients on both contentious and non-contentious matters relating to product safety, labelling, CE-marking, and product placement.

We advise clients involved in the design and manufacture of products on the regulatory regime that surrounds their use and supply. Product safety issues can arise in a range of scenarios, including direct consumer risk, inadequate safety instructions, or inherent defects not uncovered during manufacture. Our advice is delivered in a timely manner and delivered in a way that recognises the commercial demands on a client. From cosmetic labelling through to food labelling we can advise on complex labelling issues for our clients. Some of those issues previously advised on include the requirements for warning labels, language and translation obligations, and the additional criteria where products are provided to consumers. We have considerable experience advising on CE marking obligations, as well as wider issues relating to conformance with relevant EU and domestic standards. Products range from machinery, lifting equipment and vehicles to toys, consumer products and electrical equipment.
