In representing our clients, we have been responsible for some of the most important legal case precedents established in education and employment law over the last fifty years.  We advise on all aspects of the employment relationship from recruitment to termination.

We have extensive experience in dealing with the issues arising in managing the student relationship. We advise on student complaints and student discipline, academic appeals and fair admissions policies, as well as equality and discrimination issues. We also provide practical advice in relation to confidentiality and data protection issues.

Our work encompasses not only advice on laws specific to education, but also other specialist areas relevant to the sector, including research.  We advise third level institution’s tech transfer and commercialisation offices and business incubator centres.  We have expertise in advising on all types of research arrangements (including industry sponsorship of academic research, agreements for research services, and collaborative research arrangements with industry), licensing arrangements, public funding agreements (including through Enterprise Ireland and Science Foundation Ireland), application of State aid rules, application of the Technology Transfer Block Exemption, and in relation to materials transfer agreements.

Several of our partners are actively involved in boards and committees throughout the industry.  With this in-depth sector knowledge, we are very well placed to identify challenges for the sector in advance and provide early advice and potential solutions to our education sector clients.

Drawing upon the vast experience in this sector of our colleagues in the International Lawyers Network, we can help you to establish your institution in overseas markets. In doing so, we provide a seamless, multi-jurisdictional service.
