Holmes, one of Ireland's leading law firms, is pleased to announce several high-level strategic appointments in its  dispute resolution, corporate, commercial property and public sector units as part of its continued expansion. Ed Kelly has re-joined Holmes as a Senior Solicitor specialising in commercial litigation and dispute resolution, we are also delighted to welcome Isabel Treacy as a Senior Associate Solicitor, specialising in the areas of commercial property and public and administrative law. The firm’s Dublin branch has been bolstered by the exciting additions of Susan O’Reilly as Of Counsel in Holmes’ Corporate Unit whilst Rachel Naughton BL has been appointed as Legal Counsel for the firm specialising in data protection.

Senior Solicitor Ed Kelly started his legal career in Holmes, prior to joining a busy Dublin based litigation practice in 2020. He returns with extensive experience in resolution of complex and high value commercial disputes across a range of areas including banking, financial, professional negligence, and public procurement.  Ed specialises in placing the client at the centre of the strategy, he can guide them through challenging disputes by distilling even the most complicated of problems into clear terms that clients can readily understand.

Isabel Treacy began her career in Limerick City practising in property and acting for both private and public sector clients for over ten years.  She joined a busy regional firm in 2000 where she was appointed a Partner in 2002. Isabel brings a wealth of experience in regulatory and advisory, commercial property, acquisitions and sales, construction and banking to Holmes.  She has acted for commercial and private clients on the financing of acquisitions together with financial restructuring and has advised a range of clients, including the owners and developers of shopping centres, nursing homes, public sector bodies, and Agri Food and Tech businesses. 

Solicitor Susan O’Reilly has been appointed Of Counsel in Holmes’ Corporate Unit and has over 20 years’ experience working as a corporate lawyer in Ireland and England.  Susan’s deep corporate experience includes advising Irish and international companies and private equity and venture capital investors on a wide range of corporate transactions.  Susan completed her training in a large Dublin commercial law firm before working for four years as a Corporate Solicitor in London with SJ Berwin. She returned to Ireland in 2000 and worked as a Corporate Associate with both a ‘Big 5’ law firm and Whitney Moore, where she worked with the current Head of Holmes’ Commercial Unit, Stephen Walker, prior to joining Holmes where she will be part of a formidable Commercial Unit alongside Stephen.  

Rachel Naughton qualified as a Barrister in 2019 and has been a Judicial Assistant for two years with the Courts Service of Ireland.  Prior to this, Rachel gained considerable experience as a Legal Researcher and Adviser with a state body.  Rachel brings pertinent expertise in processing and advising regarding data subject requests and complaints to her new role.  In addition, she is an experienced Knowledge Manager and has developed and created knowledge systems in administrative law, constitutional law, company law, equality law and employment law.
