Holmes is delighted to announce the launch of a new sports law service, which brings together expertise from across the firm to support governing bodies, clubs, athletes and sports organisations.
Sport continues to play a hugely important role in communities and society, while the legal and regulatory landscape surrounding it has become increasingly complex. Sports organisations now face an increasingly broad range of legal issues, from governance and safeguarding to disputes, employment, commercial arrangements and regulatory compliance.
This launch builds on the work our lawyers have been doing for many years. Holmes colleagues have advised sports organisations across multiple practice areas while many are also actively involved in sport themselves. This gives us a strong understanding and real appreciation of both the legal issues and the practical realities facing the those working in the sector.
David Curran, Partner, will lead the new Sports Law team, supported by our Public Sector lead, Cathal Minihane, and specialists from across the firm, including myself, Edel Conway, Sandra Egan, Ed Kelly and Michael Walshe. Together, the team brings expertise across corporate and commercial matters, real estate, employment, arbitration and dispute resolution, alongside our wider regulatory and public sector capabilities.
We look forward to the continued growth of our Sports Law practice and to supporting clients across all levels of sport.
"Sport plays a vital role in our communities, and organisations across the sector are facing increasingly complex legal challenges. By bringing together expertise from across the firm, our Sports Law practice is ideally placed to provide the practical, strategic support that clients need."
