Michael practises in corporate and commercial law and qualified as a solicitor in 1988.  He previously practised as an attorney in New York for two years before returning to Dublin to practice.  Michael joined Holmes in 2024 following the merger of Holmes with OCWM Law.

Michael has expertise across a range of sectors including financial services, real estate, IT/tech start-ups, medical/dental, retail and transport.  He advises companies and investors on acquisition and financing and advises on all aspects of corporate insolvency and restructuring, to include contentious and non-contentious matters.   

Michael advises our diverse range of clients on all aspects of their functions and duties to include statutory requirements, governance issues, registration, codes of professional conduct, disciplinary procedures and membership.   Michael also advises credit unions throughout Ireland on a variety of regulatory matters and various innovative shared services projects and new product offerings.  He also advises a growing number of medical and dental practices in their dealings with consolidators in the Irish market. 

Recent Work Highlights

  • Acting for the sellers of smart parking meter provider, UTS Technologies Limited and the sellers of transmission mast hosting platform Rock Solid Transmission Limited. 
  • On the acquisition side, Michael represented LED Robus in its acquisition and financing of CP Electric, Payment Plus in its acquisition of EPOS platform, TenderPOS and Cashel Travel in the acquisition of a 50% interest in Alainn Tours.
  • Represented the promoters of KelTech IoE Networks Limited, Acel Energy Limited, Xwave Technologies Limited and Lakeside Memorial Park in their initial and follow on fundraises.
  • Represented Dundalk Credit Union in a series of transfers of undertaking from Cuchulainn Credit Union and Carrickmacross Credit Union
  • Successfully represented the independent non-executive directors of Novelty ICAV in presenting a petition for the winding up of this regulated fund to resolve an impasse among the unitholders. 
  • Represented United Overseas Bank, a leading Singaporean bank in a protracted complex multi-party Commercial Court action that has now been brought to a successful negotiated settlement. 
  • Successful appeal to the Supreme Court in Munnelly -v- Citylearning Limited has clarified the law in Ireland on a long-standing procedural principle (the so-called Rule in Henderson -v- Henderson).
