Holmes has announced the appointment of David Curran as a partner in the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Insurance unit, marking a significant step in the continued expansion of the practice.

Mr Curran is a dual-qualified commercial and insurance litigation lawyer with extensive experience across a broad range of matters, including professional negligence litigation. He is widely recognised in the sector and is co-author of the only dedicated Irish legal text on professional indemnity law. He is also currently co-authoring a new publication on Insurance Claims in Ireland, which is expected to be published in 2027.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr Curran has a strong involvement in sports governance and dispute resolution. He is a qualified sports arbitrator for the GAA, a former independent chair of the Disciplinary Committee of the Irish Football Association, and currently serves on the Appeals Panel for Cycling Ireland.

Commenting on the appointment, managing partner Harry Fehily said the firm is “pleased to announce David’s appointment to the Partnership as we continue to grow and develop our Commercial Litigation and Insurance practice.” He added that Mr Curran’s experience and industry insight will play an important role in strengthening the firm’s client offering and supporting its strategic growth.

Michael Murphy, head of financial lines/professional indemnity, said the appointment reflects Mr Curran’s strong reputation within the legal and insurance sectors. He noted that the firm has known Mr Curran for many years and that his addition represents a significant strategic hire, enhancing the quality, experience and value delivered to clients.

Mr Curran is also scheduled to speak at the upcoming Holmes PNLA Conference on 18 June, joining what the firm describes as a strong line-up of speakers.
