Geoffrey is a Solicitor at Holmes, advising multinational companies, banks and high-net-worth individuals on commercial litigation and dispute resolution. He has extensive experience across a wide range of commercial disputes, with a particular focus on shareholders’ and directors’ disputes, injunctive relief, fraud and asset recovery proceedings, and general commercial and contractual disputes, together with contentious winding-up, restructuring and insolvency proceedings.
He has represented clients across the banking, financial and commercial sectors in Hong Kong and in the offshore jurisdictions of the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands and Bermuda, and has advised clients in investigations conducted by financial market regulators. Geoffrey regularly acts at all stages of litigation, including court applications and trials, and has conducted advocacy in the High Court of Hong Kong.
Admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong SAR, England & Wales and the Republic of Ireland, Geoffrey joined Holmes in 2024, having previously practised in Hong Kong at a leading independent law firm and at an Offshore Magic Circle law firm, where he was seconded to its British Virgin Islands offices. He is a native English and Cantonese speaker and is conversant in Mandarin.

- Representing a major US private equity firm in Cayman Islands proceedings against a shareholder over the misappropriation of company funds and assets and the solicitation of company business and customers.
- Representing shareholders in an international food, beverage and entertainment business in a cross-border shareholders’ dispute across the courts of Hong Kong, Singapore and the British Virgin Islands.
- Representing Hong Kong and British Virgin Islands receivers in proceedings to recognise their appointment over the shares of BVI companies and to void resolutions passed by former shareholders and directors.
- Advising a US international law firm on its disclosure obligations for documents subject to legal professional privilege and confidentiality in investigations by liquidators in the US and Hong Kong of a NASDAQ-listed Chinese medical company.
- Advising an alternate director of an international fishing and shipping business in unfair prejudice proceedings in Hong Kong.
- Representing a high-net-worth investor in a Hong Kong moneylender in proceedings seeking injunctive relief to regain control of the company from its former directors and shareholders.
- Representing a high-net-worth individual in proceedings to recover monies misappropriated from a Hong Kong company by a nominee shareholder and to void that company’s liquidation.
