Geoffrey Fung, Solicitor, joined Holmes in 2024 as a qualified Solicitor in Hong Kong, England & Wales and Ireland. He specialises in commercial litigation and dispute resolution.
Geoffrey has extensive experience on a wide range of commercial litigation and dispute resolution matters, with a particular focus on shareholders’ and directors’ disputes, injunctive relief, fraud and asset recovery proceedings, and other general commercial and contractual disputes. He also has experience in contentious winding-up, restructuring and insolvency proceedings.
He has represented multi-national companies, banks, and high-net-worth individuals from different jurisdictions across the banking, financial, and commercial sectors in Hong Kong and in the offshore law jurisdictions in the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Island and Bermuda. He has also advised clients in investigations conducted by financial market regulatory bodies. Geoffrey regularly represents clients in all stages of litigation, including handling Court applications and trials, and has previous experience with conducting advocacy in the High Court of Hong Kong.
Prior to joining Holmes, Geoffrey was practising as a Solicitor in Hong Kong at a leading independent Hong Kong law firm and an Offshore Magic Circle law firm, during which he was also on secondment with their offices in the British Virgin Islands.
Geoffrey is a native English and Cantonese Chinese speaker and is conversant in Mandarin Chinese.

- Representing a major US private equity firm in proceedings in the Cayman Islands against a shareholder regarding his misappropriation of company funds and assets, and solicitation of company business and customers
- Representing Hong Kong and British Virgin Islands receivers in proceedings to recognise their appointment over the shares of British Virgin Islands companies and to void resolutions passed by the former shareholders and directors
- Representing a Chinese company in a landmark case against the Hong Kong Department of Justice and Commercial Crime Bureau relating to the disclosure of documents subject to legal professional privilege
- Advising a US international law firm on its disclosure obligations of documents subject to legal professional privilege and confidentiality in investigations conducted by liquidators in the US and Hong Kong of a NASDAQ-listed Chinese medical company
- Representing shareholders in an international food & beverage and entertainment business in a cross-border shareholders’ dispute involving the Courts in Hong Kong, Singapore and the British Virgin Islands
- Advising an alternate director of an international fishing and shipping business in unfair prejudicial proceedings in Hong Kong
- Representing a high-net-worth investor in a Hong Kong moneylender in proceedings seeking injunctive relief to regain control of the company from its former directors and shareholders
- Representing a high-net-worth individual in proceedings to recover monies misappropriated from a Hong Kong company by a nominee shareholder and to void the liquidation of said company
