PARTNER MICHAEL MURPHY FINALIST AS LAWYER OF THE YEAR IN EARLY CAREER AWARDS
Partner, Michael Murphy, has been announced as a finalist for the “Lawyer of the Year” award in the 2019 Lincoln Recruitment Irish Early Career Awards.
The Lincoln Recruitment Irish Early Career Awards 2019, in association with KBC Bank Ireland, are business awards focusing on young professionals of Ireland which are designed to celebrate their achievements. Winners will be announced at the awards event on 24th October 2019, at the Ballsbridge Hotel, Dublin.

Michael joined Holmes O’Malley Sexton in 2009, having commenced as an intern working for the Managing Partner Harry Fehily. He completed his training contract with the firm in 2012 and he ascended through the ranks at the firm and was named as Partner and Head of the Financial Lines Unit last year where he works alongside Harry Fehily. In this role he divides his time between the Limerick and Dublin offices and prides himself on being results orientated. Specialising in litigation, in particular professional indemnity investigations and financial lines claims, Michael has garnered vast experience in negligence cases involving architects, engineers, solicitors, accountants and insurance brokers, as well as claims against directors and officers. A trusted advisor to clients, he delivers specialist, knowledgeable and tailored solutions to even the most complex of disputes. Michael also advises on the GDPR, including compliance strategies, risk minimisation and litigation arising from data breaches.
He has fast become a leading industry expert, presenting at seminars and conferences for the insurance industry, cyber security and data protection and international technology summits. Michael is also a valued member of the Holmes O’Malley Sexton team, receiving the “knowledge” award in the “Together” HOMS Solicitors People Awards, for which he was nominated by his peers for his leadership and contribution to knowledge sharing in the firm, with clients and the wider community, in line with our firm’s mission. He has also recently successfully completed the Ingenium Smartchoice Leadership Programme.
Michael has been internationally recognised in this year’s Legal 500 EMEA edition and in Chambers Global for his Insurance and Dispute Resolution work. He has overseen the Professional Negligence Lawyers’ Association, sponsored by Holmes O’Malley Sexton, for the last two years.
In addition to managing his professional responsibilities, Michael enjoys spending time as a father to his four young children and as husband to his “extremely patient wife”. He also finds time to sit on the Board of Management of Kincora Kids Pre-school in Killaloe and is the Mini Rugby Coordinator for Ballina-Killaloe RFC.
