Tríona Walsh, Senior Associate, specialises in insurance litigation and dispute resolution. She joined the firm in 2005.
Having vast experience in casualty insurance litigation, she specialises in defence insurance litigation which encompasses road traffic, employer’s liability, product liability and public liability cases, and also undertakes personal injury defence litigation work for corporate and institutional clients.
Tríona practices in “Special Investigation Unit” (SIU) claims. She manages our anti-fraud services, with a particular focus on complex cases involving alleged fraud or exaggeration, Tríona provides internal training to personnel on the defence of claims involving suspected fraud or exaggeration. Taking a thorough, data-driven approach to the investigation of alleged fraudulent and exaggerated claims, she is market-recognised for her robust defence of such claims and for the many successful outcomes on behalf of insurance clients.
She carries out work for most of the leading insurance companies in the Irish market and has extensive experience in the defence of personal injuries claims for local authorities. She also deals with recovery cases for commercial clients and acts on behalf of a number of international clients.
Frequently advising our clients on insurance and indemnity, health and safety, road traffic, defamation, water and sanitary services and housing related disputes, Tríona is experienced in relation to all matters pertaining to insurance law, civil procedure and common law as well as on statutory rights and duties. Tríona also has experience dealing with, and making, requests under the Freedom of Information Act and Data Protections Acts.
Tríona has conducted successful prosecutions on behalf of statutory bodies on a national basis and has also acted on behalf of a statutory authority in relation to appeal board hearings. She has also provided advices to statutory authorities in relation to primary and secondary legislation and in relation to the exercising of their functions, powers and obligations.
Providing practical advice, she draws on significant commercial acumen to ensure optimum results for her clients. Spearheading the management information reporting for some of our large insurance company clients, she ensures that key performance indicators are identified and managed, ensuring ongoing standards of excellence in our legal services. Tríona also manages our internal workflow processes and precedents to ensure efficiencies and optimum delivery of services to our clients.
She practises at all court levels but particularly in the Circuit and High Courts. She acts for insurance companies, statutory authorities and corporate entities, as well as private clients.
