Terry Heaney, Partner, specialises in insurance litigation and dispute resolution. Prior to joining the firm in 1999, he practised as a litigation solicitor in Dublin for six years.
Specialising in personal injury defence litigation, Terry has extensive experience of acting for insurers in the defence of motor, public liability and employer liability claims. Terry has practised in this area for nearly 30 years in both the Circuit and High Courts and he has acquired considerable knowledge and expertise in the area. He manages a large caseload, advising clients on liability issues, damages and strategy and negotiating settlement of legal costs, with a view to achieving best possible outcomes for his clients. With particular experience of dealing with cases involving fraud, he has successfully defended a number of claims which have either been dismissed or withdrawn.
He acts for a number of major international insurance companies based in Ireland.
Recent Work Highlights
Successfully defended a public liability claim in the Circuit Court which was dismissed after the trial judge applied Section 26 of the Civil Liability and Courts Act 2004, finding that the plaintiff had deliberately given evidence which he knew to be false and misleading.
