Caitlín Love, Senior Associate, joined the firm in 2015 and specialises in public administrative law, data protection and privacy and commercial litigation.

Public Administrative Law

Caitlín acts for a significant number of public, State and semi-State clients who operate within the public administrative law sphere, frequently advising on regulatory issues such as statutory interpretation, compliance, procurement and freedom of information.

She also regularly acts for such clients in litigious matters including judicial review proceedings, tender related disputes and criminal statutory enforcement proceedings.

Data Protection and Privacy

Having a keen interest in data protection law, Caitlín has a wide range of experience in advising both public and private sector clients on privacy related matters. She deals with contentious issues, such as privacy related disputes, and non-contentious issues to include assisting clients with the implementation of their GDPR compliance framework and the drafting of policies and data sharing contracts.

She also has experience assisting clients with technology and IP related legal issues.

Commercial Litigation

One of Caitlin’s key practice areas is commercial litigation and she has extensive experience assisting clients with a broad range of commercial disputes, which includes construction law issues, property disputes, debt collection and company law issues. She frequently litigates in both the High Court and Supreme Court and is a keen advocator of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as mediation and arbitration.

Commercial Contracts and Employment Law

Caitlín has experience in dealing with non-contentious commercial matters to include employment related matters, drafting and reviewing commercial contracts and advising both domestic and international insurance companies on policy interpretation and coverage related issues.

Recent Work Highlights

  • Secured one of the first data protection related injunctions in this jurisdiction, as a result of unlawful processing of child data by multinational corporation, eBay. View here

  • Advised an international aviation company on a cyber-attack which affected up to 30,000 data records and liaised with the Data Protection Commission on the resolution of same

  • Successfully defended an enforcement action by the Data Protection Commission against our client, a national clothes retailer, for alleged breaches of the ePrivacy Regulations

  • Acted for two separate international clients, who operate in the renewable energy sector, in securing injunctions against alleged creditors who threatened winding up action under the Companies Act 2014

  • Negotiated a favourable settlement and termination agreement, for a Director and Shareholder of an aviation company, following a dispute with fellow Shareholders and Directors

  • Successfully acted for our client, an international engineering company, in an adjudication pursuant to the Construction Contracts Act 2013

  • Regularly assists our corporate team on due diligence for M&A and investment transactions, which recently included advising BGF on their multi-million euro investment in Croom Precision Medical

  • Advised our client, a healthcare recruitment agency, on the temporary placement of staff within the public sector to assist with the Covid-19 response

  • Assisted the Private Security Authority in securing a conviction against a security company who had provided unlicensed security services during a controversial eviction in Roscommon in December 2017. View here
