The annual President’s Dinner marked the closing of the UL 50 celebrations, a year of events that marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the University of Limerick. Holmes was honoured to be one of the key sponsors of the event.

Closing the 50-year celebrations, Chairman of the UL Foundation and Managing Partner of Holmes, Harry Fehily, reflected on the growth of the University which now boasts 18,000 students and 360 acres of campus and facilities, including world class sports and cultural facilities, which rival any international campus.

He also celebrated the contribution of Chuck Feeney. His contribution was a game changing factor in the story of UL and this year he was honoured as the University named the Campus Road “The Feeney Way”.

Holmes is proud of its unique history of support for the University of Limerick. In 1970 the founding partner of the firm, Gordon Holmes, was instrumental in shaping the new Institute by advising the founding President, Dr Ed Walsh. The firm is proud to continue this tradition and it is fitting that Harry Fehily, our Managing Partner, currently sits as Chairman of the board of the University of Limerick Foundation in this significant year.  In his address at the President’s Dinner, Harry stated

now it is time to look forward. I want to assure you tonight that the best days of this University are still to come. This Foundation will be busier than ever. The funding support challenges are as great as ever they were but the opportunities arising from new and partner models of philanthropy are great also.

Harry Fehily

Chairman of University of Limerick Foundation and Managing Partner of Holmes

Holmes will continue this tradition of close support to the University for this is how Limerick City and the region will achieve its status of excellence among its peer regions inI reland and in the European Union.  The University and Holmes share a commitment to excellence and together, we look forward to the next half century of innovation, excellence, relevance and prosperity.

Today the University continues to break new ground. High profile projects in Immersive Software Engineering, the Economic Strategic Development Zone on the North Campus and the City Centre Campus Development are all supported by the UL Foundation.

At Holmes we are proud to play our part as corporate citizens investing in education and research. We look forward to the next phase of our journey with the University of Limerick.
