The annual President’s Dinner, an event which has not taken place for three years, marked the beginning of UL 50, a year of events to mark the anniversary of the establishment of the university. Holmes was honoured to be one of the key sponsors of the dinner.
Holmes is proud of its unique history of support for the University of Limerick. In 1970 the founding partner of the firm, Gordon Holmes, was instrumental in shaping the new Institute through close advice to the founding President Dr Ed Walsh. The firm is proud that this tradition has continued over the half century since. It is fitting that Harry Fehily, our Managing Partner, currently sits as Chairman of the board of the University of Limerick Foundation on this significant year.
In his address at the President’s Dinner Harry struck an optimistic tone:
As the University of Limerick enters its fiftieth year, Holmes is proud to continue its long tradition of lending its support and expertise to the University of Limerick. We honour the significant role of the University in providing a future for our young people.
Harry Fehily
Chairman of University of Limerick Foundation and Managing Partner of Holmes
Today the University continues to break new ground. High profile projects in Immersive Software Engineering, the Economic Strategic Development Zone on the North Campus and the City Centre Campus Development, all supported by the Foundation will see the University fifty years from now being celebrated as Europe’s Greatest University.
Holmes will continue this tradition of close support to the University for this is how Limerick City and the region will achieve its stand-out status of excellence among its peer regions in Ireland and in the European Union.
The University and Holmes share a commitment to excellence. Together we look forward to the next half century of innovation, excellence, relevance and thrive.
At Holmes we are proud to play our part as corporate citizen investing in education and research, and the transmission of unique know-how. We look forward to the next phase of our journey with the University of Limerick.
